Our Community

First Baptist Church offers many educational opportunities for people of all ages to learn about God’s love, to grow in their Christian faith & learn how to live that faith in their everyday lives. Each Sunday there is Church School for ages pre-K to 12th grade.
Most Sundays include a Second Hour Forum to discuss mission opportunities, book studies, or current events. For adults: There's weekly Bible Study on Mondays at 11:30am and evening Book Groups on Zoom.!

Music
The music ministry at First Baptist Church is an integral part of the worship service. Our organist, Evan Allen is an incredible musician, bringing our restored Hook organ to life! We have an active adult choir as well as a youth choir. All voices are welcome! During the summer months, individuals are encouraged to sing or play an instrument during our service, while the choirs are on vacation.

Fellowship
On Sunday mornings, the Fellowship Team makes sure that all are welcomed. Outside of the Sunday service, we often gather to spend time together! Fellowship events include intergenerational craft projects, ice skating, hikes, an annual church picnic, Family Game Night, and pot luck meals. The Fellowship Team also keeps track of new members, congregational care, home visits, and prayer requests.

Outreach Ministries
Some of our local outreach projects include: ANEW Place (a Burlington’s homeless shelter), The Share (a joint ministry project with FUMC Burlington), JUMP (the Joint Urban Ministry Project), and COTS (the Committee on Temporary Shelter). Internationally we support ABCUSA Global Servants, Ann and Bill Clemmer’s work in Goma, Democratic Republic of the Congo, along with other missionaries around the world. Through American Baptist Churches, USA United Mission we support the ABCUSA Home Mission Society, International Ministries, and the Office of the General Secretary.
In addition to our planned giving, we do a number of fundraisers each year. One is Noodles for Burma which raises funds for those displaced by the war in Burma/ Myanmar. Another is our Interstate 89 Rest Stop Bake Sale (with hotdogs!) which raises funds for a variety of local mission projects.
